Workshop AZ Groeninge Kortrijk

Within the XRehab project, we not only conduct XR workshops for rehabilitation purposes but also develop use cases in co-creation with the participating partners. We went to test one of our XR use cases with the occupational therapists and patients at the Departments of Psychiatry and Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of AZ Groeninge.

With this XR application you can go shopping in a virtual environment both with and without controllers. The therapist can follow where the patient is in the store and make adjustments if necessary. Among other things, it tracks whether or not the budget is exceeded and whether the right products are purchased. Both therapists and patients were very positive about this VR experience. Even in a wheelchair or with a prosthesis, shopping was easy. In addition, there were also many useful tips for optimizing this use case. This day in AZ Groeninge was an instructive experience for all parties!

Thank you Hilde Desmet and Manu Janssens for the many suggestions during the development process and the smooth organization! Thanks also to all participating therapists and patients for the interesting feedback. The results will be incorporated into a blueprint around the use and development of XR for the rehabilitation sector in Flanders.
